For more than five years, Daniel Hardcastle, better known by his internet handle and Youtube channel, “NerdCubed” has been accruing followers and producing content best compared to Let’s Plays, though with his own comedic style and flair. Now, as 2016 comes to a close, the British Youtuber with 2,525,934 subscribers and over a billion views has announced his #1 game in the history of the industry: Bully.
This declaration came at the end of a multi-day series of videos, in which Hardcastle counted down what he considers to be the Top 100 games ever made. Other titles included Portal (a well-known favourite of the man) and Resident Evil 4.
Hardcastle’s list was not comprised solely of big name titles, however, with relative unknowns such Thomas Was Alone and Black, the latter of which he referred to as “The Jeremy Clarkson of shooters” making their way onto the list, sometimes quite highly.
While Hardcastle was thorough in his explanations of what traits earned each game their respective spot, the praise for Bully was extensive, citing the developer’s skill at capturing the sensations of boarding-school life as a teenager, as well as the accomplishments the game made from a technical perspective, despite hardware limitations.
The final video ranked the following games in descending order:
- The Sims
- Grand Theft Auto 5
- Roller Coaster Tycoon 2
- Dungeon Keeper
- SSX 3D
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
- Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
- Shadow Of The Colossus
